It has been a busy week for shows, as some of the Coachella bands are playing in San Diego in between the two weekends.

Friday, Bear Hands, Hills Like Elephants and Jesika Von Rabbit play a sold-out show at the Casbah; the Wailing Souls play at the Belly Up; Tropical Popsicle, Wild Wild Wets, the Electric Magpie and Slow White are at Til-Two; Christ Killer has their CD Release Party at the Tower Bar; Deadly Birds and Gone Baby Gone are at Gallagher’s; and you can get your dance on at Bang Bang with Classix and F---ing in the Bushes takes over the Whistle Stop with your fix of Brit Pop.

Saturday is Record Store Day and there are plenty of places in San Diego to show your support including M-Theory, Spin, Cow, FeeLit, Lou’s and Off The Record. The CityBeat Festival of Beers is in front of the Lafayette Hotel and features the Heavy Guilt, Hit Dog Hollar and Neighbors to the North; Joan Jett & the Blackhearts take over Harrah’s; the Expendables and Seedless play at House of Blues; Caravan Palace has a sold-out show at the Belly Up; Kids headline at the Che Cafe; Nations Afire (members of Ignite and Rise Against), Assuming We Survive and Bankers Hill take over Soda Bar; Badabing plays at the Tin Can; WL (ex-members of Blouse), Colleen Green and Lube are at the Hideout; and at the Casbah it’s the New York Night Train’s Soul Clap & Dance Off. On the DJ tip, Contemporary Menswear and Boys Don’t Disco take over Bang Bang, ‘80s vs. ‘90s with DJs Gabe Vega and Saul Q is at the Whistle Stop; Neon Beat with the Best and Worst of the ‘80s hits Bar Pink; Maystar’s Fashion Whore is at U-31; and Awakening Saturday at Bassmnt features EDX and Christina Novelli.
 
On Sunday, the Sublime tribute band 40 Oz. To Freedom hits the Belly Up with Bad Neighborz and DJ Man Cat. Plus, Leopold and his Fiction, the Soft White Sixties, and Band & the Ugly play at the Casbah
