Jason Mraz Is on Team Coco

Thursday night Conan O'Brien's Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television tour stopped at the San Diego Civic to a sold-out enthusiastic house.

O'Brien, staying across the street at the U.S. Grant, was joined onstage by his house band -- sans Max Weinberg -- and sidekick Andy Richter, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, trombonist Richie "LaBamba" Rosenberg and the Self-Pleasuring Panda (friend of the legally protected Masturbating Bear). For the record, "The masturbating bear loves the Padres; he never misses a game." Taking shots at Los Angeles and delivering classic bits like the "Walker, Texas Ranger Lever," Conan and crew destroyed the San Diego crowd.

TeamCoco.com had this to say about the "San DiegWHOA" show : "I have to say, for a community that has a reputation for being laid-back and relaxed, San Diegians sure know how to SCREAM THEIR FRICKIN LUNGS OUT."

Along the 30-city tour, many high-profile special guests have joined Coco onstage for musical performances, such as Dave Matthews, Eddie Vedder, Spoon and Jim Carrey.

At the San Diego show, Fallbrook's Jason Mraz drove down to the Civic, serving as the night's "surprise guest." Mraz, rocking a headband and hipster beard, performed a couple of songs, including a catchy ditty entitled "What Mama Say." Unfortunately, Kerry King of Slayer (spotted backstage), didn't jump onstage for a big band rendition of "Angel of Death".

The next stop for O'Brien's tour is Phoenix and begs the question: What Arizona resident will pop onstage and be the surprise guest? My guess: Maynard James Keenan of Tool.
