Happy Birthday, Ringo!

Richard Starkey, born July 7, 1940 -- better known by his stage name, Ringo Starr -- the iconic drummer for the Beatles, is celebrating his 70th birthday on Wednesday.

In honor of this milestone, Starr is promoting peace and love in the world with a special call to action.

Starr told the UK press: "On the seventh day of the seventh month in 2010 -- my birthday -- we are going to do the 'peace and love' at noon, wherever you are. If you are on a bus or on a boat, at noon, just put your fingers in the air and say, 'Peace and love,' just for me. That is your birthday gift to me, and this is my gift to you: Peace and love."

The legendary drummer will be celebrating his 70th birthday in New York City with a special show at Radio City Music Hall.

Later this summer, Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band will perform on Aug. 06, at Humphreys Concerts By the Bay.
