SD Venue Among US Best: Billboard

The House of Blues opened in 2005

Since it opened in 2005, downtown’s House of Blues has come into its own as one the top outlets in town to see a touring act, and now, Billboard magazine has taken note, including it on a list of the 25 Hottest Clubs in the United States.

The House of Blues San Diego nabbed the No. 10 spot on the list. Rankings are based on the number of attendees the clubs have hosted since New Years. So far in 2013, the House of Blues San Diego has hosted more than 86,000 concertgoers -- not too shabby for a venue open for less than a decade.

With the closures of 4th & B, Anthology and Ruby Room within the last year, HoBSD's ranking may even increase.

Topping the list is the House of Blues Boston, with 174,224 attendees.  Stunningly, 11 of the Top 25 are links in the the House of Blues chain. The Live Nation-owned franchise’s CEO credits the success of the venues to their support of local music: “We have great local marketers and great local voices in our markets, so when we talk to our social communities, we talk in a very local voice.”
