So much for your run-of-the-mill DJ dance party -- just in time for Comic-Con and summer, San Diego’s Fluxx is transforming the site into a festive, video-game inspired haven for partygoers and gamers alike.
Fluxx is building on the philosphy it began with, constantly reinventing the decor to keep the club fresh for fans. This latest pixilated extravaganza is kicking off Friday, with Fluxx Arcade drawing inspiration from a number of classic-console favorites, including Rat Pac, Clouds and Hyper 8-bit. If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to have fancy cocktails served up by Ms. Pac-Man, there’s finally a place in San Diego to find out. The club’s decked-out geek-chic lobby entrance and bar stations are dedicated exclusively to Space Invader and Donkey Kong imagery.
Don’t forget about the music either: A strong pool of talent has signed on for the event. Fluxx has signed San Diego-via-Boulder EDM upstart DJ Brett Bodley and local mainstay DJ Dynamiq to spin on opening night. Other hot SoCal artists are also set to perform in coming weeks, including the hip-hop oriented DJ Scooter on July 5 and open-format all star DJ Cobra on July 20.
Fluxx Arcade will be plugged in throughout July.
