It's a Dead Man's Party

The Halloween festivities are just beginning, and we've got the weekend picks to prove it

The weekend fun continues on Friday, as the Oceanside Museum of Art has a Day of the Dead-themed Art After Dark event; Father John Misty plays the House of Blues; Schitzophonics with Shake Before Us, Flaggs and Chinese Rocks hit the Casbah; Jay Idol headlines at Voyeur; and Le Castle Vania brings his DJ set to Bassment. Plus, a Dia de los Muertos party at U-31 features Vito & Druzzi “The Rapture” DJ set, Moving Units and Colour Vision. At Winstons, it’s Michal Menert of Pretty Lights Music, Mx Mool, Osal8, Sqama and Mikey Thunder.

On Saturday, it’s the Day of the Dead, with Club Ascension at the Kava Lounge. I’ll be DJing the best in dark underground dance music with Doktor Zayus and Chad O. Plus, there will be ticket giveaways for Skinny Puppy at the House of Blues on Jan. 25. Get more details here. At the Belly Up, Oingo Boingo tribute band Dead Man’s Party headlines with support from local favorites the Burning of Rome. Elsewhere, Wolfgang Gartner and Tommy Trash hit SOMA, and at El Dorado it’s Boys & Girls with the Office Twins and Adam Salter.

Sunday, it might be tough to decide between the 1975 at the Belly Up, and Atlas Genius, Family of the Year and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. at House of Blues. Plus, Deerhoof headlines at the Irenic.

Have a great weekend and I’ll see you on the dance floor!
