Drake will be playing at the Viejas Arena at SDSU.

Aubrey Drake Graham (aka the Drake) announced his Club Paradise tour recently, which will invade college campus around the U.S., will make SDSU the final leg on March 11 inside the Viejas Arena.  Accompanying the Canadian rapper will be hip-hop artists A$AP Rock and Kendrick Lamar.

Rapping initially took a backseat to Drake’s acting career, during which he played the role of Jimmy Brooks on the hit show Degrassi: The Next Generation for eight years. But then the nine-time Grammy nominated rapper Drake rose to musical fame in 2009 with his EP So Far Gone, which spawned the hits “Best I Ever Had” and “Successful,” featuring Trey Songz. The EP garnered the 25-year-old his first two Grammy nominations in 2010.  Drake’s first full-length album, Thank Me Later, followed a year later, spawning the singles “Over,” “Find Your Love” and “Miss Me,” subsequently making his debut a complete success and adding four more Grammy nods to his stable.  In 2011, the album Take Care was equally well received by critics, with the track “Headlines” being the first single released.  Drake picked up his last three Grammy nominations for the collaborations “Moment For Life” (with Nicki Minaj),  “I Am on One” (DJ Khaled) and “What’s My Name?,” with ex-girlfriend, Rihanna

Drake uses personal experiences and observations as a source for his material; for example, So Far Gone, was an ode to becoming a man and taking care of his mother.  Fusing hip-hop, R&B and pop-tinged beats, Drake’s music caters to listeners who love a story with danceable beats and sing-a-long or just bobbing their heads along with the rhythms. Drake delivers a subtle flow that institutes a pause-and-release pattern. You chill and rap along, and let Drake do his thing, which is to make you aware of his words and wisdom.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at noon on Saturday.  Prices range from $39.75-$79.75, not including fees.
