Wow, summer flew by this year, and Labor Day is just around the corner. There will be plenty to do that weekend, but first, there is no shortage of things to do this Thursday through Saturday in San Diego.
Thursday is proving to be the night for out-and-about shenanigans. I’ll be starting things off at the Soda Bar with another SoundDiego LIVE event featuring music from New Mexico and Old Tiger. Plus, SoundDiego's Guitar to Glory winner, Sledding With Tigers, will open the night. To get in on the action, go here. Afterward, I'll be heading over to the grand opening of the Griffin, formerly known as O’Connells. The space has been transformed, and they’ve got a great lineup for the official unveiling. The Howls and the Kabbs will perform, plus Saul Q and Man-Cat will spin throughout the night. They also promise a surprise guest DJ. Other fun events happening on this night include the grand opening of Café Sevilla, EDM with ATB at Fluxx and Kill the Noise at Voyeur. Is that enough for you?
Friday, it’s a Red Alien Invasion at the Kava Lounge, featuring DJs Alien Tom (LA), Red Sonya (LA), Devokcha (Ensenada) and iZik providing your house and techno fix. It’s Devochka’s first US appearance, so give her a warm welcome. Get more details here. Over at Voyeur, it’s Donald Glaude and DJ Sanjay. Plus, Feel the Noise bring you Ese & Zain, Groundfloor, Gabe Vega and Saul Q at U-31.
Saturday night, break out the plaid skirts and knee socks! Don your favorite naughty-schoolgirl or -boy attire and join me for a special theme night at Club Sabbat at the Flame in Hillcrest. Maybe a principal or teacher is more your style? Either way, don’t forget your ruler, and come dressed and ready for some mischief! Fredrick Faith will provide the visual art and films on the back stage, and I’ll be DJing in the main room with Severin and Liquid Grey will keeping things going in the back room.
