We are halfway through the holiday weekend, and there's still so much fun to be had.
Saturday night, join me for Club Ascension at the Kava Lounge. It's the monthly night Tom King and I have been doing for five years. The venue is amazing, and the staff is super nice. They always make you feel right at home. Tom and I will be joined by special guest DJ Ladynoir, who has great taste in dark underground dance music. If pool parties are your thing, Intervention is doing it up this weekend with two days' worth, featuring Gabriel & Dresdon Saturday and Edward Maya on Sunday. LED is invading the Wavehouse on Sunday, with Dirty South, Dave Aude, Mr. White, Jay Idol and Collin Perry. Plus, there's an eight-hour pool party at the Ivy featuring Donald Glaude, Slynkee, Theron, Ayla Simone, Tara Brooks, Chris Cutz and others.
I Scream Sunday is happening at the World Beat Center. This all-ages event starts at 5 p.m. and goes till midnight. Nom De Strip, Dskotek, Electric Criminal and Turbo Teen are headlining the main stage. Plus, there's the Dub Dome, free carnival games, live art. and did someone say free ice cream?!? There is a plethora of fun things to do on Sunday night. One of my faves: the Jivewire Dance Party with DJs Vaughn Avakian, Saul Q, Mr. Mazee and DJ Claire after an early live show at the Casbah.
Hopefully you don't have to work Monday, because there a few pool parties that you should check out, from Bay Park, with DJs Mark E Quark, Alex Villabos, Why T, Paluka and Phil Aye, to the Star Spangled Banger in Poway that will include DJs Ikah Love, Saul Q, Ese and Zain, Pleasure Victim and Erick Diaz. Also, DJ Junior the Disco Punk and friends will be at the North Park Pool Party at the Lafayette Hotel. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen, and save room for the fireworks.
