Keeping the heat going as the summer is closing down, San Diego does not blink for a second with non-stop dancing month after month. It’s as if San Diego’s festival and event season is turning into a year long massive party, with Labor Day Weekend going full throttle!
Sunday, Sept. 4, is the day to be out in the sun, on the dance floor, poolside or on deck of a ship -- as long as you are shaking your groove thing! Club Flamingo reawakens the Hard Rock Hotel for some fun in the sun as Dirtybird’s WORTHY drops some funky house beats (hosted by Fortune421). Souleil invites house music icon Wally Callerio for a special one-off event at the World Beat Center. If you fancy the waves and breeze of San Diego’s harbor, Pier Pressure on board the Inspiration Hornblower gets the party jumping with Donald Glaude. Meanwhile, Lovelife takes over the Adventure Hornblower for an Animal Themed Party as part of Lovelife’s Lovers Ark celebration. If your inner battery hasn’t hit the warning zone yet, Andaz Rooftop 600 invites you to lounge poolside as Miami Horror DJs drop the housey beats along with Erick Diaz, Sam Wild and more of your local favorites!
On Saturday, Sept. 10, South Bay Pride Music & Art Festival hosts its free three stage festival featuring a variety of music. On the dance music stage will be a secret surprise guest plus MTV VMA nominee Mike Taylor and myself, DJ IDeaL, along with Karine Hannah from Cash Money Records. Flying in from the UK comes Tristan D, Los Angeles’ Oscar Del Amor and San Diego residents DJ Taj, DJ Dida, DJ Fariba and DJ KA! Dance away on the harbor of Chula Vista with bars, water sports and much more! Click here for more info.
If you’re looking for a more intimate afternoon, Clique will host a house and techno gathering at the Hole.
Friday, Sept. 16, probably has one of the biggest shows to come to San Diego: KRAFTWERK at the Balboa Theatre. Electronic music's most influential group will be performing their most recent tour set, which features a special 3D performance rendition of their best hits. You won’t want to miss it!
Saturday, Sept. 17, through Sunday, Sept. 18, is Sundown Music Festival featuring Erick Morillo, NGHTMRE, Tommy Trash and R3HAB in Huntington Beach with the first ever pirate ship DJ stage. With plenty of water slides, ferris wheel rides, wave swingers, ziplining and a wipeout obstacle course, you'll have plenty to do at this two day festival extravaganza.
Sunday, Sept. 18, at PARQ -- one of the hottest names of present day dance music will have the booties poppin', always featuring special surprises and dropping new tracks before they're out on the market -- get ready for Diplo!
Friday, Sept. 23, Tribe out West celebrate their second compilation release at Spin Nightclub with a very underground event: Donald Thump, Memo Rex, Sam Wild, Susio and more -- support local artists on the rise!
Also at Spin on Saturday, Sept. 24, the night goes Pitch Black with some proper techno and house presented by Artifact, Divinity and Muted Noise. Step into a dark mental space where one can go and find their deepest form of self through music (featuring a special Halo Varga b2b Paulo set).
Last, but definitely not least, is Kill the Noise at Bassmnt on Friday, Sept. 30. Last time he rolled in with an intimate private set by Skrillex. Awakening Saturdays presented by Insomniac always have something up their sleeves … What will it be this time?
I hope that’s enough options for ya. Don’t forget to take a rester and re-hydrate in between long days of partying it up in the sun before you head out for the night again. Also, get your new dancing shoes ready, as October comes with the heat again featuring CRSSD and many more!
Till then … peace!
