Got your whole SoundDiego summer booked? Not so fast.
Singer/songwriter Imogen Heap has been added to Humphrey's by the Bay's summer schedule. The now-solo artist who has worked in the past with Frou Four and Acacia, as well as everybody from hip-hoppers Urban Species to guitar god Jeff Beck, will make her way to the Humphrey'stage on June 20. Tickets for the show go on sale on April 24.
In other performer news at the Shelter Island venue, Mitzi Stone of Humphrey's said that Lara Johnston has been added as an opening act for the Doobie Brothers Show on Sept. 8. Johnston is the daughter of Tom Johnston, the Doobie Brothers singer.
Stone said that two shows at Humphrey's -- Sheryl Crow and Jackson Browne -- have already sold out and that the performances by Barenaked Ladies, the Black Crowes, Dianna Ross, Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band, and Colbie Caillat are nearly sold out as well.
Humphrey's is not the only local venue who have added performances to their summer lineups. This week, the Belly Up Tavern announced that it, too, was filling out its schedule. On Tuesday, the Solana Beach venue said that shows by Miike Snow on June 2, Far on May 20 and Playing for Change on June 16 were now booked, as were the Whigs on June 17 and Leon Russel on July 7.
A standout late booking at the iconic North County site: The Switchfoot Bro-Am After-Party, hosted by none other than Switchfoot, who will bring special guests to the Belly Up stage as well.
Downtown's iconically hip Anthology has been at work behind the scenes, too, adding shows recently that include Sophie B. Hawkins (May 19), Edgar Winter (May 21) and Dr. John, among others. And for pure must-have kitsch, there's Wang Chung on June 17.
Other spring booking that will add icing on this summer's cake is the Muse show on September 22 at the Viejas Arena at San Diego State University. Need more? Passion Pit will be opening up. Tickets go on sale on Saturday.
