Killer Lineup

Anyone who has seen the Kills before knows they put on an amazing show. But if you haven’t seen them, you might not know that. Luckily for you, though, the blues-rocking duo is coming to House of Blues on Sept. 11 to impart some knowledge.

The show comes just four months after their last House of Blues performance, but it's not like we’re complaining. The Kills are one of rock & roll’s most dynamic, fascinating acts, and you can never have too much of Jamie Hince’s buzz-saw guitar or Alison Mosshart’s smoldering vocals. And just in case the prospect of seeing a terrific band like the Kills isn't enough to whet your appetite, two great opening acts are set to start the show off with a bang.

First, Mini Mansions will blow your hair back with their rich harmonies and pitch-black atmospherics. The trio initially sparked interest as the side-project of Queens of the Stone Age bassist Michael Shuman, but over the past year they’ve stepped out of that band’s shadow. Mini Mansions' last two San Diego shows -- both at Tin Can Alehouse -- were intense and fascinating performances, so it’ll be interesting to see them move to a larger venue.

To complete the hat trick, Eleanor Friedberger will get your hips shaking with her upbeat, expressive pop. The Fiery Furnaces frontwoman has been flying solo as of late and just released her debut album, Last Summer, on Merge Records. You can stream the entire record here. They don't build lineups more solid than that, so hurry up and get your tickets.
