Common Sense California, an organization that works to improve civic engagement, has just posted the latest Civic Health Index for California.
The report is full of interesting survey data about Cailfornians' engagement in civic life. Survey data in the report shows Californians lagging most other states in various measures. In particular, the percentages of Californians who consume news, discuss politics with friends and family, eat dinner with their family a few times a week, or work with neighbors to fix a problem -- was less than the national averages of each measure.
In other measures, Californians "seem to be mirroing the national average." A PDF of the full report is available here.
