That's an American record for any non-presidential campaign. It's also enough to fund California's system of state parks for nearly a year. And it's roughly equal to the amount Gov. Jerry Brown is proposing to cut out of the state's SSI/SSP program, which provides income to the old, blind and disabled.
Aides to Brown were actually touting this number when it broke late yesterday -- as a way of emphasizing budget-cutting Gov. Jerry Brown's frugality. He needs to burnish that invitation in a vote.
