83% of Prostitutes Have FB Pages: Study

A recent study from Columbia University shows that prostitutes moved away from Craigslist's Adult Services before the site was shut down, according to AllFacebook.com.

The professionals migrated to Facebook to the tune of 83 percent adoption, according to the study's author, Sudhir Venkatesh. He's been studying New York City prostitutes since before social networking took off, so he's incorporating it into his methodology now.

Linking these numbers with how police use social networking to bust prostitution rings isn't around, yet, but that'd be a dang good read, right?

The Facebook angle is part of a larger study in Wired magazine that shows how prostitution has migrated from the street to the cloud, using mobile devices and luxury branding to increase 'respectablitly.'
