What to Expect at WWDC

Although Apple's invitation to its Worldwide Developers Conference says, "It's the week we've all been waiting for," many are saying that fanboys should lower their expectations.

The keynote of the conference, and usually the big press blowout, will undoubtedly have some big announcements -- but it's probably going to be limited to operating systems, Macs and Apple TV, according to Wired. Since Apple usually unveils a new smartphone every 12 months, it would be breaking tradition by launching the new iPhone after the iPhone 4S has only been around for nine months.

It is far more likely that Apple will show off its new Macs which are largely in need of a refresh, according to 9to5Mac. Although laptops aren't as sexy as mobile devices, it's still a primary market or Apple.

Despite Tim Cook's cagey answers about Apple TV, analysts are still predicting an announcement about Apple's new interface. “This is an area of intense interest for us,” Cook said.“We are going to keep pulling the string and see where this takes us."

Cook then refused to talk about specifics, but hinted at possible gaming in Apple TV's future. “I think it could be interesting," he said.

Apple will also probably be doing some spin on its new mobile mapping system after very publicly dropping Google Maps.

In the end, visitors to WWDC should expect to see some new hardware and maybe a surprise announcement but don't expect a new iPhone.
