Steve Jobs Honored With a Grammy

Steve Jobs loved music and he used that emotion to take Apple in a new direction in 2001.

Eleven years after changing the music industry with the introduction of the iPod and iTunes, the late Apple CEO won a Grammy Award.

Jobs was bestowed with a posthumous Trustees Award, which recognizes contributions to the music world by non-performers.

Apple's introduction of the iPod and the iTunes business model reinvented the music industry at a time when record labels were trying to figure out how to compete with Internet piracy.

Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of internet software and services, accepted the award on behalf of Jobs and his family at the ceremony Sunday evening.

"He told us that music shaped his life," Cue said. "It made him who he was. Everyone who knows Steve knows the profound impact that artists like Bob Dylan and the Beatles had on him."
