Orbitz to Cater to Expensive Tastes of Apple Users

It's no secret Apple users don't mind paying a little extra for their shiny laptops but does that mean they should have to pay more for hotels?

A Wall Street Journal story Wednesday says Orbitz.com has found that Apple users on average spend as much as 30 percent more on hotels when using the online discount travel site than PC users.

And now the company plans to show Apple users different and sometimes costlier options than Windows users.

Orbitz found users of the Cupertino-based technology company's computers on average spend $20 to $30 more a night on hotels than PC users.

Mac users are also 40 percent more likely to book a four- or five-star hotel than non Mac users.

The study and the beta program by Orbitz is an example of companies can use data analytics to make a little more money by predicting user habits.
