Logitech Gives Up on Google TV

The Logitech Revue was the main piece of hardware available for the initial Google TV rollout. It...didn't do well. It did so poorly, in fact, that Logitech won't be making a followup Google TV device.

In a call with investors and analysts, Logitech CEO Guerrino De Luca talks about the many mistakes the company made with the set-top box, saying that its launch was "a mistake of implementation of a gigantic nature." In the end, it cost them "well over $100M in operating profits." Ouch.

So, because the launch was a disaster, and the product failed to set the world on fire, Logitech is cutting its losses with the entire platform and bowing out of the Google TV game. So don't expect a Revue II anytime soon. And after these revelations about just how bad it did, will any other hardware companies be willing to roll the dice with Google TV?
