Google: No More Adult Content on Blogger

Graphic sexual content will no longer be publicly viewed or shared on its blogging tool, Blogger, starting March 23, Google announced.

Google made the announcement on its support page, stating, "If your existing blog does have sexually explicit or graphic nude images or video, your blog will be made private after March 23, 2015. No content will be deleted, but private content can only be seen by the owner or admins of the blog and the people who the owner has shared the blog with."

Google will not take down the blog, but will make it private -- and no longer publicly viewable. Those who want to keep their blog will either have to take down the explicit content or can pre-emptively make it private. If a blog is created after March 23, Google reserves the right to take down a blog with graphic sexual content  "or take other action."

It's not clear what the "other action" is, but it could mean losing one's blog content. Essentially this is Google's way of cleaning house and making Blogger family-friendly. While some called this censorship, Google has the right to create its own company policies -- and it apparently doesn't want explicit sexual images on its blogging tool.
