Google Expands Art Project

There are now more than 30,000 high-resolution artworks from all over the world a click away.

Google's product modus operandi: release, collect, enhance. When Google released the Art Project last year there were 17 museums in nine countries involved.

They then collected data and ideas from art-world celebrants and experts. Today, Google has enhanced the entire project in a rather grand way: 151 museums in 40 countries. All told, there are 30,000 high-resolution images available for users the world over to study, share and enjoy.

The images include "not just paintings, but sculpture, street art and photographs," according to the official blog.

The project includes institutions of all sizes and cultures. With Google's new dashboard of products, no less than Google+ of course, the opportunities for people to share and learn is even greater.
