Facebook Poaches from WaveGroup Sound

Despite reports that Facebook acquired the sound studio WaveGroup Sound, apparently the social network may have just poached its workers, according to reports.

The former employees joined Facebook design team but the social network declined to state what the employees would be working on, VentureBeat reported. Previously TechCrunch reported that Facebook acquired the Burlingame, Calif. company to help build up its standalone applications, but Facebook confirmed to VentureBeat that the employees were hired "through the regular hiring process."

WaveGroup has created sounds for Facebook before, including contracting sound work for its various apps, so poaching workers to create an in-house sound team makes sense. Remember that Facebook also bought  Oculus VR for $2 billion, which creates virtual reality headgear, so a combination of the virtual reality imagery and sound could lead to very cool content -- be it games or "experiences."
