Apple added four new channels to its Apple TV lineup, according to reports.

Apple added ABC News, PBS Kids, AOL On and Willow to its Apple TV offerings, according to AppleInsider. ABC News will feature both live and on-demand content, including "historical footage" and news from local stations ranging from New York to Fresno, Calif. Disney is the parent company of ABC, which also provides kid content to Apple TV.

"We are very excited to be extending our leadership and innovation onto an amazing platform like Apple TV," ABC News Digital executive Joe Ruffolo said in a release. "Utilizing hours of live video each day, opening up our archives, extending our strong local brands, and bringing the trust of ABC News to our users when and where they want it."
PBS is also offering PBS Kids which features is popular kid fare "Thomas the Tank Engine" and "Sesame Street." There's also a new "international cricket channel Willow," along with AOL On and a Flickr photo-sharing service, AppleInsider reported.
But why now, Apple? It's likely because Apple is doing something to battle the revamped Android TV that could be unveiled at Google I/O tomorrow.
