Apple Removes YouTube from iOS 6

Apple has removed Google's YouTube from its iOS 6 beta, so users will have to rely on their Safari browsers or wait until a YouTube app shows up at its App Store.

It was 9to5Mac that first noticed the disappearance of the YouTube icon, but Apple finally confirmed to The Verge that it was indeed gone until further notice. From the report:

Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store.

It's also part of Apple's recent "Let take down Google!" mentality, according to The Next Web, and Apple wants no more links to Google in its iOS. (Remember Google Maps?) Short-sighted? Successful? Who knows, but it's at least a strategy -- and for many executives that's enough to support it.
