Apple, Google Want to Pay $324M Settlement

Silicon Valley powerhouses Apple, Google, Adobe Systems and Intel are appealing a federal court's decision so they can pay a $324 million settlement over allegedly limiting employee poaching.

The companies pleaded with the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to intervene and "resurrect" the $324 million settlement -- which averages out to $3,750 each for 64,000 workers -- rather than a higher number demanded by  U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh, according to the San Jose Mercury News. The original plaintiff settlement request was $3 billion in the class-action lawsuit.

Koh rejected the settlement offer last month and wanted a more generous settlement. last month. Apple, Google, Adobe and Intel have asked for a recess while they pursue the appeal and they have until January.

The $324 million settlement sounds like a lot until it's cut down to a mere $3,750 a person --  a person who was denied a job allegedly because of his or her employees conducted back door deals to keep salaries low.
