Katie Holmes Heading Further Indie with “Son of No One”

The wife of someone very big is looking to join the star-studded cast of "Son of No One."

Katie Holmes (a.k.a Tom Cruise's wife) is negotiating to join the cast of the cop drama playing the wife of Channing Tatum, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The movie also stars cop veterans Al Pacino and Ray Liotta and features Tatum assigned to his old working-class neighborhood, where he finds some explosive secrets.

Holmes signing on would not only mean another marquee name on the cop movie's roster. It would also be another sign in the indie direction for the former "Dawson's Creek" star, who is suddenly turning on the acting chops.

Holmes received high marks for her double-showing at the Sundance Film Festival this year in "The Romantics" (USA Today called it one of the "festival's breakouts") and "The Extra Man." Not that it's going to push her off the pages of glossy tabloids each week, but it's a nice change of pace for Holmes. At the very least she'll have to leave her designer outfits at home. She'd never be able to afford them as a cop's wife.
