Vampire Salary Dispute Holding Up Final “Twilight” Announcement

Apparently, vampires don't just live for the taste of fresh blood after all. They need their cold cash, which seems to explain the holdup in the final announcement for "Breaking Dawn."

Salary demands are stalling an announcement that would make the final "Breaking Dawn" installment two movies, the Hollywood Reporter claims.

Most everyone is on board for the two-movie option -- which makes sense for everyone from the insatiable fans to the studio, which loves the guaranteed extra payday.

And most of the talent is on board as well. Director Bill Condon is all set for two films which would be shot back-to-back in November 2011 and summer 2012 respectively.

Importantly, Summit has also locked in its star Holy Trinity -- Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson. Some of the key, but smaller players have come aboard as well -- everyone from Peter Facinelli (as Dr. Carlisle Cullen) and Billy Burke (Sheriff Charlie Swan).

But at least two Cullen kids are holdouts seeking bigger paydays, according to the report -- Kellen Lutz and Ashley Greene. Apparently Summit's offer for the final film -- at least 10 times what the actors made in the first movie -- was deemed "offensive" to the stars in light of the money machine which the "Twilight" vehicles are.

Both sides are clearly playing hardball. You don't want to switch key characters for the final movie. But Summit has shown in the past a willingness to switch actors. Rachelle Lefevre was knocked out of the third installment "Eclipse" for Bryce Dallas Howard with only a minor protest from fans -- a protest long forgotten as that movie looks to open big on June 30.
