Minnesota Vikings' Brett Favre (4) celebrates with Chester Taylor (29) after Favre threw a touchdown pass during the first half of an NFL football game against the Green Bay Packers on Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, in Minneapolis.
Welcome to Watch List, where we identify five things on TV to watch while you stay at home and prepare the wings. LET’S GO!
VIKINGS/SAINTS – 8:30PM (NBC) Your 2010 NFL season kicks off with a rematch of last season’s NFC title game between New Orleans and Minnesota, a thrilling game New Orleans won in overtime after the Vikings fumbled four bazillion times in regulation and Brett Favre threw a back-breaking interception with his team just barely in field goal range at the end of the fourth quarter. Favre is back for one (last?) go at another Super Bowl ring, but he has a rough start in store for him against the defending Super Bowl champs. The Saints are still just as potent as last year, only now they have the confidence of a Super Bowl win to their credit, along with a fanbase and city that are madly in love with them. Should be an enjoyable one. Performing before the game will be Taylor Swift and Dave Matthews. ANTICIPATION: HIGH!
PROJECT RUNWAY – 9:00PM (Lifetime) Lifetime is clearly holding something back from us. There has to be a reason everyone seems to despise Michael Costello. It can’t be because he’s merely annoying. They’re ALL annoying. They hate this guy like he ran over their dog or something. I don’t get it. Also, Ivy is pure evil. Not only are her clothes awful, but she’s unreasonably arrogant and for some reason believes she’s some kind of elite designer within the group. She may be more evil than Gretchen. And that’s saying a lot. Tonight, the designers are forced to design resort attire. I smell sailor suits, people. ANTICIPATION: BEST SEASON EVER!
NIKITA – 9:00PM (CW) The CW’s new drama is the third reincarnation of Luc Besson’s original French thriller, “La Femme Nikita,” after Bridget Fonda’s remake in “Point of No Return” and the saucy Peta Wilson’s USA original series. This time, it’s Maggie Q who gets to play a runaway gal turned assassin by a secret government agency, only to have that agency turn against her and try to have her killed. It’s the kind of storyline that never really grows old, especially when you have a smoking hot woman in the lead role. ANTICIPATION: WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BRIDGET FONDA, ANYWAY?
JERSEY SHORE – 10:00PM (MTV) The gang deal with the fallout from J-Woww and Sammi’s fight. And by that I mean, the gang asks producers what to do next after the producers told J-Woww and Sammi to fight. ANTICIPATION: TEAM SAMMI!
DESTINATION TRUTH – 9:00PM (SyFy – an NBC/Universal Network) The season premiere of this SyFy original show tracks down an unconfirmed carnivore at large in the African wilderness. That carnivore’s name? Ted Nugent. CAT SCRATCH FEVAHHHHHHH! ANTICIPATION: NOOOOOGE!
