“Southland” Spoiler Alert: The Fate of Det. Clarke

Tom Everett Scott, whose character, LAPD Detective Russell Clarke, was shot in the chest and left to die on a doormat during a domestic dispute in the show's cliffhanger season finale, spoke out about Russell's fate last month.

"[The producers] were really nice about saying 'Hey, you don't die.' And I was like, 'Oh, good.' But I haven't seen the script yet so I can't say that it's official."

Well, it's official now.

At Sunday's press day for her new film, "Our Family Wedding," "Southland" star Regina King told us exclusively that, yes, Everett Scott will be returning to the show.

He lives!

She also said the show doesn't just pick up where it left off, it charges "full speed ahead."

"The patrol officers find themselves in a riot in The Jungle, an area in Los Angeles that was deemed The Jungle because of the heavy gang activity and, when you get in, you can get lost and not know where to come out," King said.

"My character is breaking in a new partner and she's not happy about it and still trying to figure out what the fate of Russell, her true partner, is."

With new characters, played by Wood Harris ("Remember the Titans"), Clifton Collins Jr. ("Traffic", "Star Trek") and Laz Alonso ("Avatar"), also joining the cast, "We pick up where we left off, but it's even better," King promised.

"Southland," which was canceled by NBC after one season, but picked up by TNT, debuts March 2.

"Our Family Wedding" arrives in theaters March 12.
