Snow vs. Snow: The Princess Showdown

Snow White and the Seven Adaptations? Well, not quite. Although at this rate we wouldn't rule it out.

No less than three separate attempts to reinvent the classic tale of a beautiful girl, a vengeful queen, and a gang of height-challenged miners are in the works, meaning Snow White could be next year's preening vampire or giant flood movie.

First up is Universal's "Snow White and the Huntsman," which reports claim is minutes away from locking in Viggo Mortensen for the Huntsman. They are also, apparently, in talks with Kristen Stewart for the lead and Charlize Theron for the wrathful queen. Why Viggo would be keen to wield a bow around dwarfs again is anyone's guess - but if he's cast, prepare for John Rhys-Davis to campaign to play all seven of pudgy workmen.

At the same time, Relativity Media is chugging away on "The Brothers Grimm: Snow White" (kudos for resisting the "Rise of" tag, guys), to be directed by Tarsem Singh of "The Cell"....er, fame? In an effort to outdo "Huntsman," they are allegedly trying to lure none other than Julia Roberts for the wicked queen role. Finally, the role she seems born to play.

Rounding out the Snow White-a-Thon is by far the oddest of the bunch. This one has been a rumor for so long, it practically qualifies as an urban legend. But now it seems serious steps are being taken to bring it to screens. We're talking, of course, about "Snow and the Seven." This version imagines...stay with us...that Snow is a young girl being raised in 19th century Hong Kong who is forced to seek the aid of seven Shaolin Monks (we assume they're named "Punchy," " Kicky," "Stabby," etc.) in order to defeat an "evil force." Yes, it's "Kung Fu White." What's even more unbelievable is that Disney is behind this one, apparently tapping "I Am Legend" director Francis Lawrence to helm.

There are only so many poison apples to go around, so we'll just have to wait and see which Snow will make the cut.
