Ryan Reynolds and Reese Withersoon Have “Big Eyes”

You know those creepy paintings of the little kids with the gigantic eyes that you often see in vintage stores? As hard as it may be to believe, those were actually done by humans. And now it's time for their story to be told.

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Reynolds have landed the lead roles in "Big Eyes," about Margaret and Walter Keane, the couple that invented the signature look that swept the nation in the '50s and '60s, reported Deadline.

Walter was the marketing genius, doing the talk-show circuit and presenting himself as the artist, but it was Margaret, too shy for the spotlight, that was the artist of the two, doing all the painting herself. When the couple split, she took him to court to get hers, with the judge finally ordering that two easels be brought in so they could settle the matter with paintbrushes.

"We are ecstatic to have this dream cast for our dream project. Walter is a larger-than-life antihero — charming, funny, dangerous, and a little crazy," said the writing-directing team behind the film, Alexander and Karaszewski, in a statement. “Ryan will knock it out of the park. As for Reese, she will be perfect as Margaret — soulful, decent, transforming from vulnerability to learning to fight for herself.”

Witherspoon can next be seen Feb. 14 having Chris Pine and Tom Hardy fight for her affections in "This Means War," while Reyonolds stars opposite Denzel Washington on Feb. 10 in "Safe House."
