“ParaNorman” Trailer Would Be Great Even Without Donovan's “Season of the Witch”

Honestly, we could enjoy watching Charlie Rose on a stripper pole if "Season of the Witch" were playing, but the trailer for "ParaNorman" would surely stand on its own merits.

"ParaNorman," from Laika, the same studio that did "Coraline," is a stop-motion animation 3D adventure about a boy who can talk to dead people. Norman must use his talent he to fight an ancient curse that threatens to wipe out everyone in his town.

Kodi Smit-McPhee voices Norman, with Casey Affelck, John Goodman, Anna Kendrick, Leslie Mann and Christopher Mintz-Plasse also lending their talents.

Chris Butler wrote the script and co-directed the film with Sam Fell, whose most recent effort was "The Tale of Desperaux."

"ParaNorman" opens Aug. 17, 2012--as opposed to, say, around Halloween.
