Of Course Sony Wants Aaron Sorkin to Write Steve Jobs Biopic

Just two days after the death of tech titan Steve Jobs, it was learned that Sony had acquired the film rights to his authorized biography. And now comes the entirely unsurprising news of their first choice to adapt the tome.

Sony wants Aaron Sorkin to write the screenplay about Jobs' life, reported 24 Frames. When you consider that Sorkin has previously won an Oscar for penning the tech-heavy "The Social Network", as well as co-wrote the very successful business-masquerading-as-baseball film "Moneyball", one would be hard-pressed to think of a better fit for the project.

Sorkin has made a career of penning mercurial jerk/geniuses, of which Jobs was clearly one. In addition to revolutionizing almost every corner of media consumption, he could be a notoriously cruel taskmaster, lied to his old partner Steve Wozniak, and at one point in his twenties denied his parentage of a child for two year. He was a complicated guy, to say the least,

“There are parts of his life and personality that are extremely messy, and that’s the truth. You shouldn’t whitewash it," Jobs' wife, Laurene, told Isaacson. "He’s good at spin, but he also has a remarkable story, and I’d like to see that it’s all told truthfully.”

If Sorkin can spin baseball stat geeks and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg into compelling drama, Jobs should present him with no challenge at all.
