New Documentary "Restrepo" Takes You to "Deadliest Place on Earth"

Follow photographer Tim Hetherington and writer Sebastian Junger to the Korengal Valley in Afghanistan, "the deadliest place on Earth," where U.S. troops erected a camp named in honor of their fallen friend.

"Wild Grass"

Based on the novel "L'incident" by French novelist Christian Gailly, tells the story of two people brought together by a found wallet, and the bizarre romance that ensues.

"Toy Story 3" destroyed the competition last week and "Knight and Day" is better than we expected, the Pixar gang has nothing to fear.

"Knight and Day"

In a summer movie season that's been loaded with duds and disappointments, "Knight and Day" at least lives up to its promise, as modest as that may be. Tom Cruise is back to his old self after a hiatus that including leaping maniacally onto Oprah's couch and mussging as Les Grossman. Went into wide release on Wednesday. "Grown Ups"

We couldn't find time in our busy schedule to see Adam Sandler's family reunion, but some poor schmucks did and very few of them were happy about it. It's now sitting at 7% on Rotten Tomatoes, and has inspired comments like "downright sociopathic," "like spending a weekend with well-meaning people you don't want to see again any time real soon" and "'like The Big Chill made by morons." Even the rare good reviews come off backhanded, like this from Owen Glieberman of Entertainment Weekly: "Diverting enough to get by, 'Grown Ups' is Adam Sandler growing up -- but not too much." "Dogtooth"

A brilliant absurdist satire about how crippling statist, patriarchal socities are, and what happen can happen when there’s a leak in the carefully maintained bubble. Goes into limited release today. Read our full review and watch the trailer

"Restrepo"

With the change in command of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, now's the perfect time to watch this gripping documentary from author Sebastian Junger and photographer Tim Hetherington about the year they spent in embedded with troops in the Korengal Valley, considered by some "the deadliest place on Earth."  "Wild Grass"

From the official synopsis: A wallet lost and found opens the door - slightly - to Georges and Marguerite’s romantic adventure... As George and Marguerite navigate the social protocols of giving and acknowledging thanks, turbulence enters their everyday lives. It's enjoying a Rotten Tomatoes score of 74% on the strength of reviews from the likes of Armond White, whosaid, "It embarrasses just about every other piece of filmmaking around."
