The concert documentary "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" earned $73 million. But what's far more troubling is that appears to have inspired imitators.

Katy Perry's camp is said to be in talks with Paramount, the studio behind "Never Say Never," about a similar documentary-style 3D concert film about the curvaceous pop tart, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Word is the footage has already been shot, and at this point it's just a matter of putting it together.

Musical snobbery aside, there is perhaps no pop star today better suited to a 3D concert film. Between the Candyland outfits, the fireworks and technicolor overload, Perry's whole show is tailor made for the big screen.

Concerts films historically have performed poorly, with none cracking $20 million until Hannah Montana's "Best of Both Worlds" raked in $65 million. Since then, "Michael Jackson's This Is It" scored $72 million, and Bieber now stands as the all-time champ.
