17 years later, are you ready to return to Jurassic Park?

In an age where studio executives think a project like "Heathers 2" is a good idea and everything from "The Karate Kid" to "Footloose" is being rebooted, of course there's talk of going back to the island so high tech that they can clone dinosaurs from mosquito blood sucked out of a piece of amber, but they don't have a competent backup generator.

"Jurassic Park IV?" At first, we were leery. The idea of continuing a franchise, even one started by Steven Spielberg, that's as farfetched as "Jurassic Park" seemed like a leap. But if anyone can do it, it's director Joe Johnston, the guy who had us constantly making sure we weren't stepping on anything scientifically miniaturized in "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids."

Johnston, who's currently doing the rounds promoting his new film "The Wolfman," starring Benicio del Toro, has announced plans for a fourth, and possibly fifth and sixth film, in the "Jurassic Park" series.

Speaking to BoxOffice.com, Johnston said, "It breaks away from the first three -- it's essentially the beginning of the second Jurassic Park trilogy. It's going to be done in a completely different way."

He wasn't specific about plot details, but he was very clear on one thing.

"We don't want to make sequel after sequel just because there's a market for it. We want to tell different, interesting stories."

As long as Jeff Goldblum is along for the ride too, we're there.
