UPDATE: Emma Stone RSVPs “No” to Zombie Hunting Invite

UPDATE: Just a day after it was learned that she'd been offered the lead in "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies," Emma Stone took a pass, reported Deadline. Probably just as well, she's too talented to fall into the "zombie killer" rut.

"Zombieland" star Emma Stone looks to be heading back to the land of the undead.

Stone has been offered the lead role in "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies," reported Variety, the adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith novel being directed by Craig Gillespie.

As you likely know by now, the book is a spin-off of Jane Austen's classic novel, but this time Elizabeth Bennett (whom Stone would play) and Fitzwilliam Darcy go hunting for zombies.

Despite our initial doubts about the project, we've been loving all the clips and trailers we've seen for Gillespie's remake of "Fright Night," starring Anton Yelchin and Colin Farrell, and his debut effort, "Lars and the Real Girl," is a recent favorite. And we, along with everyone else in cyberspace, have been crushing on Stone since "Superbad," so this could be good.

Gillespie's "Fright Night" is out Aug. 19, while Stone has a cameo in "Friends With Benefits" July 22, then co-stars in "Crazy Stupid Love" July 29 before playing the lead in "The Help." And if you care about such things, yesterday it was learned that Stone is dating her "Amazing Spider-Man" co-star Andrew Garfield--we couldn't be happier for those kids.
