Beckinsale, Biel & Nighy Join “Total Recall,” Work Starts Monday

In the interest of matrimonial harmony, Len Wiseman has brought the missus on board for his next film.

Kate Beckinsale, along with Jessica Biel and Bill Nighy, have been cast alongside Colin Farrell in the upcoming "Total Recall," which starts filming Monday, reported Collider.

Beckinsale will play Lori, the part originally played by Sharon Stone in the 1990 version. Biel will take the other major female role, Melina, previously played by Rachel Ticotin, a part that at one point seemed destined for Eva Mendes or Rosario Dawson--ah, the cruel vagaries of Hollywood whitewash.

But it's Nighy, who's previously worked with Beckinsale and Wiseman on the "Underworld" franchise, who has landed the plum role of Quatto, the leader of the resistance, and one of the most disarmingly gross villains of the '90s. Whether or not he will continue to reside in another man's belly remains to be seen

"Total Recall," based on the short story by Phillip K. Dick, "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale," will star Farrell as Douglas Quaid (the lead played by Arnold Schwarzenegger), a factory worker who comes to think he's a spy, but he's not sure which nation state, Euromerica or New Shanghai, he's working for. Cohaagen, Bryan Cranston, is the leader of Euromerica, and is planning to invade New Shanghai.

This new version of "Total Recall" is due to drop Aug. 3, 2012.
