"True Blood" star Alexander Skarsgard is in talks with one of indie film's hottest new movie-making teams, eying a role as an eco-terrorist.

Skarsgard hopes to join "The East," an upcoming film from director Zat Batmanglij that he co-wrote with star Brit Marling, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"The East" would star Skarsgard as the leader of a anti-terrorist group that is infiltrated by a federal agent, to be played by Marling. Sounds like a fictional riff on the recent documentary "If A Tree Falls: A story of the Earth Liberation Front," about a group of ecological activists who were branded as terrorists.

Marling took Sundance by storm this year, starring in "Another Earth," which was directed by housemate/fellow Georgetown alum Mike Cahill, and "The Sound of My Voice," directed by her other housemate/fellow Georgetown alum, Batmanglij.

Skarsgard can next be seen Sept. 16 in Rod Lurie's remake of "Straw Dogs," while Marling has a role in the upcoming "Arbitrage."
