A Real “Iron Lady” Trailer Finally Arrives

The first teaser for "The Iron Lady" was behind unsatisfying, but now, at last, we have a full-blown trailer that not only gives us a taste of the film's focus, but Meryl Streep's performance.

Thatcher was essentially Britain's answer to Ronald Reagan, in fact the parallels are staggering. Like Reagan she took over her country's government at a time when the economy and morale were a mess, she took a hard line with the Soviet Union, was a wee too hawkish in other parts of the world, survived an assassination attempt, and more than 20 years since leaving public service remains one of her nation's most divisive figures. It's all right there in the trailer, just as we'd hoped--and Meryl Streep and Jim Broadbent, to boot. We've got high hopes.

"The Iron Lady" opens Dec. 30, just in time to qualify for this year's Oscar race.
