After helping concoct the area where astronauts sleep, eat and live on NASA's International Space Station, architect and designer Garrett Finney has taken on the much-maligned trailer. A camping fan, Finney created a lightweight, flexible addition to a car out of recyclable aluminum, wood and steel. Thanks to a slew of chic weather-resistant fabrics, furnishings and materials, al fresco areas can be just as stylish as indoor ones and even blend seamlessly with interiors. Take this outdoor haven by Barb Ince of Susan Fredman Design Group. Interior designer and HGTV host Frank Fontana gets a tour of the space, which includes a large kitchen complete with a stove, refrigerator and honed granite counters.
