Tips Of The Trade: Creating A Stenciled Floor Cloth

Russel Peterson from non-profit design studio Alpha Workshops shows us how to create a stenciled floor cloth, which you can display on the floor or hang as a wall covering. By creating your own motif like Russel's, which was inspired by Alpha Workshops' recent mural for the Humane Society of New York, you can add a personalized element to your home. Russel recommends using Benjamin Moore's enviromentally friendly Natura paint since it has minimal odor and doesn't contain any VOCs.

To The Rescue: Teen Surprise

Brielle Ashford has earned a reputation in her community for putting others before herself whether it's volunteering for non-profits or building a ramp for a wheelchair-bound homeowner. To reward this extraordinary 15-year-old, "To The Rescue's" George has tapped interior designer Courtney Cachet to turn Brielle's humdrum bedroom into a colorful, girly retreat. Promotional consideration furnished by Bo Concept (bedroom set), Home Goods (all accessories), Lowes (windows, curtains, shelving), Flor (carpet tiles), Black Crow Studios (accent wallpaper), Mythic Paint (paint), HSN (huggable hangers), Chevrolet.

These cheery floor coverings from Momeni might be designed for little ones, but we think they'd bring a dose of groovy Technicolor to our own pad. Flash sales site One Kings Lane just slashed prices on Momeni's eye-popping, retro rugs, which remind us of Italian fashion house Missoni's wild prints and '70s hippie-child style. This Lil Mo Mod Multi Floral model, pictured above, runs from $35 for the 2'x3' size to $479 for the 8'x10'. The sale ends Thursday, September 23.
