Each year, wine lovers wait with glasses in hand to taste the latest Beaujolais Nouveaus.

 

It is Beaujolais Thursday, and there are places in San Diego to enjoy the French custom.

Beaujolais is a light, fruity and heavily marketed wine that's a big seller around the world. It is produced from the gamay grape grown in the Beaujolais region of France.

The most popular "Vin de Primeur" is fermented for just a few weeks. It is officially released for sale on the 3rd Thursday in November.

This year's crop is the smallest since 1975.

Where:  The Westgate Hotel, 1055 2nd Ave., San Diego
What: The Westgate presents a festive French tradition of celebrating Beaujolais Nouveau with California style & flair.
When: Friday, 6:00 PM - 9:30 p.m.
Cost: $ 52 per person

Where: Bacchus Wine Market & Tasting Room, 647 G Street, San Diego
What:  Taste a nice mix of red and white wines from around the globe.
When: Friday, 4:00 PM - 8:30 p.m.
Cost: $15 per person
