This month offers a number of great events that lend themselves to the great around-town getaway. Now that all those pesky out-of-towners are gone, we get our city back. Here's how we suggest you spend November:

Enjoy a weekend getaway in San Diego with beer on the menu. The weeklong celebration of all things brewed in San Diego begins Nov. 6. Not only are there pairing classes, parties, tastings and even a Frisbee tournament, but you can also enjoy a discounted hotel package in Mission Beach through Beer Week organizers. One event you'll want to be a part of is AleSmith's four station beer brunch at The Pearl. Pre-register 20 of your friends and save $200 just for spreading the word.

It’s not often you can make an entire weekend out of an awards dinner but that’s just the case with the Stay Classy Awards at the Grant Hotel downtown. Pick up tickets to the Nov. 14 event for you and a few friends and enjoy food and music all night with a roaring 20’s theme. Tickets start at $40 and are available online. Mention the awards dinner when you book your room at the hotel and you’ll receive a discounted rate. At the same time, you’ll be celebrating San Diegans who give back to the community so it’s like a getaway without guilt!

Meet celebrity chefs and legendary winemakers as well as enjoy cooking and wine tasting classes and samples, samples, samples! You can find all of this Nov. 18 – 22 at the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival. If you just want to partake and head home, you can choose from VIP tickets packages like the Grand Cru Package for $525 or the Premier Cru Package for $290. Discounted room rates are available through the festival so you can enjoy without the worry. Check rates on their website or opt for one of the festival’s Wine Weekend Getaway options.

Julian is a great place in the fall. On Nov. 21, The Julian Open Studios Tour takes place. Each day that weekend, you can pick up a map for $5 at the Julian Town Hall and stroll through a number of art galleries in and around town. Not only will you enjoy the fall colors just in time for Thanksgiving, but you can also pick up an apple pie or two for your dinner guests. Check out the cottages and bed & breakfast options to make the weekend a true getaway.
