It has been a fixture in Hillcrest for 22-years. But Sunday, the Corvette Diner served up its last root beer float at that location.
The 50's style diner located on Fifth Avenue is closing, but not leaving San Diego. It will re-open at Liberty Station in Pt. Loma in June.
The new Corvette Diner will be twice the size as the old restaurant. "The only changes will be for the good. We'll have the same decor, the same fabulous service, the same delicious food, although we're thinking about making it better. It's going to be absolutely fabulous," said Carrie Richards.
The new Corvette Diner will have more parking, bigger private party rooms and a kid's game room.
Lesley and David Cohn, who own the restaurant say all of the fun retro-fixtures will move to the new location.
