The San Diego Latino Film Festival’s final installment of their  “Cinema en tu Idioma” series starts November 14. The series showcases the most celebrated Latino films from international film festivals. The last part of the series will feature screenings of “El Violin,” “XX” and “El Baño del Papa.”

“El Violin” is the most internationally awarded Mexican film in history. It follows a musician with a plan to use his performances to save his military-seized village.

“XXY” also appeared in the San Diego Latino Film Festival’s “Cine Gay” showcase and was short listed for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards, and won awards at last year’s Cannes Film Festival. It features a teenage hermaphrodite struggling to choose an identity.

“El Baño del Papa” is being shown for the first time in San Diego. The film is about a small Uruguayan town coming up with ways to get rich quick off of an approaching visit from the Pope and thousands of pilgrims. The best plan they come up with? A pay-per-use toilet.

The films will be showing at the UltraStar Mission Valley Cinemas from November 14-20. Tickets are $9.50, $7.50 for students, seniors and Media Arts San Diego members.
