Professional sand carvers and locals are gearing up for this year's U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition, according to Yelp.com.
On July 19, traditional sandcastle entries will compete against creative creations and life-sized sculptures, which is a sight worth seeing. Teams of professional and amateur sandcastle builders from around the country will compete in Imperial Beach for their chance to win a slice of the $21,000 pie and the title of Master's Champion.
Trained representatives of the U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition will judge the entries and an awards ceremony will conclude the festivities.
Sandcastle building begins at 9:00 a.m. and will end at 2:00 p.m. Entries are only available for viewing until 4:00 p.m., due to the tide coming in. One Yelper said that this event is definitely worth checking out. "I've been to this before. Good times and amazing talent," said Monty M.
