Prior to moving back home to San Diego, Vanessa was the Newsroom Operation's Manager as well as a Multi-Media Journalist at KECY-TV in Yuma, Arizona.

Born and raised in San Diego, Vanessa is thrilled to be back in her home town, working in local news, a career path she’s been on since high school.

Even as a kid, Vanessa was fond of watching local news and pursued her career right after graduating from Bonita Vista High School. As an intern at FOX 5 San Diego, Vanessa knew she was born to be a reporter. Before embarking on her career in journalism, Vanessa fulfilled another passion in her life, travel. In 2010 Vanessa went abroad for the Semester at Sea program, visiting 10 countries in 10 weeks including: Spain, Italy, Croatia, Morocco and Egypt. "That was one of the greatest experiences of my life." In 2011 she graduated with a B.A. in Communication from Cal State San Marcos, packed her belongings (and of course her beloved dog) and moved to Arizona to begin her career.

Some fun facts about Vanessa, she grew up riding horses daily in the Tijuana River Valley and showed Hunter Jumpers across San Diego competitively. Vanessa was also raised speaking both Spanish and English equally.

Now, in her spare time, she enjoys riding motorcycles with her husband, doing anything outdoorsy with her Queensland Heeler, cooking and traveling.
